Lots of people were missing...guess they only had so much money to bring them back!
I at least thought they might make them all return to the island to become a new batch of "the others" and make it so no one that had died had actually died. I also didn't get how Benjamin Linus decided he wasn't going to go inside (as if he decided he wasn't dead!) Or how Anna Lucia took money to help Kate, Syide and Desmond escape but when asked, Hurley said "no, she's not with us", yet she died before the rest of them did. Or how Aaron is there as a baby, but he's in the parallel universe as a toddler with his grandmother. Oh, this list could go on...
Yeah, the last 6 years was a great ride, but the ending is a big disappointment and didn't do the 6 years justice.

Ok...so I just finished watching the LOST series finale. I get that they died and everything, but I just have one quick question. Did they die on the plane crash? Or did they die on the island? Like...was their time on the island real? Or where they already dead?

Shadow Knight say : Christian said that all their experiences were real, but that they "built this place" (the church, alta - timeline) as a way of coming together again and moving on.
Each individual person died, but their unique experiences on the Island allowed them to link together in the future afterlife or whatever.

maceface13 say : I think its open to a lot of interpretation......i'm not so sure the island was "real" b/c there are plenty of oddities to it, and hard to explain things that occurred there. the island was some kind of mystical/religious place. i mean how else do u explain the man in black, jacob and their crazy back story w/ their "mother", the light, richard's immortality, and that strange temple. then there is the flashes and time warps, the random polar bear, jack's dad appearing on the island even though the he was known to be dead before the crash, not to mention all the other people who show up randomly after they are killed on the island.....and why wasn't michael in the church at the end? also how do u explain how aaron shows up in the church as a baby? that seems a bit odd considering we are led to believe he was taken off the island and grew up to at least the age of 2 or 3....
i think the only ones who truly know what was going on are the writers......
todd say : I agree with the thought they died at different times and in different ways, which I don't think we know about or have ever seen (if so, please "enlighten"). the flashbacks was a way so we can see their broken lives. the sideways world was the world they created themselves so they can reconnect with each other. the plane crash was just the vehicle used to get them to this place (the island) so they can find peace within themselves and move on. the light was a symbolic representation of this inner peace, as jacob told us that there is a little light in all of us. all of their time on the island was spent in search of this light. the idea of the man in black was the fear that you may never experience this enlightenment. once enlightened, they can move on. there is no heaven, hell or pergatory...they are all moving on and now becoming part of the light and thereby making it stronger.
what makes this so impactful to me is that these tenets and philosophies are the one common element that links all religions...too bad we're all still trying to kill each other when we all seek the same light.
